Survivor China Finale Repeated On Sunday

SABC3 have at last started putting up an apology on their station for the mess up they made of the Survivor China Finale.

They apologised to fans and their sponsors. A little too late, one would think.

But what can you do…what’s done is done.

Although one is loathe to forgive that tv station when you hear their spokesperson say that they only hear from the public when they mess up. Never when the going is good.

As if we are not forced to pay tv licenses whether we watch their crap or not.

The repeat will take place on Sunday 6 September from 2.00pm to 4.30pm.

Hopefully in proper sequence this time.

Survivor China: Episode 9

Wow, I feel like I’ve been on the island with the Survivor China tribe – some people are really starting to get on my last nerve.

Up until now, James as been a favourite, but his grating accent and constant nagging is enough to get me to vote against him.  Argggh and don’t get me started on his lack of game playing.

PG’s nagging isn’t far behind in the annoying stakes.  Actually when the two who lost the reward challenge for their team, started bickering afterwards, I wanted to knock their heads together or send them to the naughty corner.

Another person annoying me greatly is Todd – with his superior knowledge of everything Survivor and his smirks.  Oh those smirks.

Those  three  make Courtney look like Miss Congeniality herself!

I can’t understand why James is not using his hidden immunity idols to make deals instead of using his free time to nag about everything and everyone.

In Monday night’s episode I liked Erik, Amanda and Frosti and quite enjoyed their little reward trip – which they lied about afterwards because they didn’t want the reward challenge losers to hold against them the fact that they had fried chicken and mashed potatoes.

Instead they said they had Chinese food.

Knowing the lot of losers, they probably would have gotten upset.

At the immunity challenge the tribe members had to opt to either take part or sit out and eat burgers and chips.  Half of them Courtney (who certainly needs all the meals she can get her scrawny hands on), James, Todd and Denise chose to sit out.

The rest played the memory game.

Of course once the teams decided to vote PG off, she wins immunity.

Looks like the former Fei Longs intended to forget last week’s vote when they purged one of their own and instead went back to their strategy of voting off former Zhan Hu members.

So it was either going to be Frosti or Erik.

Erik’s charm won him another stay on the island.  Next voted out was the youngest ever Survivor player, Frosti.

PS, it’s kind of embarrassing watching Amanda get all gaga about Erik when we the viewer knows that Erik eventually married Jaime.

Right now my two favourite Survivor contestants for this season are James and Todd.

Although I think Amanda is playing the best game out of the lot so far.

Within the first few minutes I was grinning along with both James and Todd.

James at Zhan Hu enjoying his two immunity idols. Reminded me of two weeks ago when Jaime and PG were giggling about throwing the challenge.

James however showed his lack of game play skills by leaving the two idols in his bag where Jaime found it.

Jaime though also found the blank fake idol, much to James’ delight.

He would have laughed even more when had he heard PG wondering whether she could trust him.

Todd told Courtney to get over it…bitch, in reply to her nagging about Jean-Robert not leaving at last tribal council.

And then, instead of a reward challenge the teams merged.

They were told by Jeff to enjoy the accompanying food, drink and Chinese acrobats, but to remember that the game never ends.

JR professional poker notwithstanding recognised, the ignored the obvious Jeff clue and chose to join the rest of the gang by eating, drinking too much and being merry.

Jeff appeared at camp with the new individual immunity idol.

He asked the new tribe question about the merging party.

Frosti answered the most questions correctly and won this seasons first individual immunity idol.

JR poker player extraordinaire seem to have the same game playing skills as Jaime – not much.

Threatening little Todd, JR. Stupid!

And Jaime making a play with the non-hidden immunity idol? Shame, she was hardly to know that what she had was a fake.

At least she played it much to James’ and Todd’s delight.

She and PG should perhaps have thought of forming alliances with James and Aaron when they had the numbers, instead of throwing a challenge and giggling about it.

Seventh person voted out of Survivor China, Jaime.

Tonight’s episode started with Zhan Hu’s Sherea waking from a lovely nap.

The tribe tried to get introspective about the reasons for their losses.

They concluded that Fei Long was stronger, smarter and better led than them.

Very self aware that lot.

Luckily they were saved from themselves. Not before Jaime and Erik formed an alliance by admitting that Erik is a virgin and Jaime revealed there is an immunity idol on the island.

Back at Fei Long James and Denise bonded over their work ethic.

All the bonding was spoiled when a fisherman with a note arrived telling the tribes to pick two members of the opposing tribe to join their tribe.

Fei Long chose Sherea and Frosti.

Zhan Hu chose James and Aaron.

Back at Fei Long the team still had it in for Jean-Robert which the two new tribe members soon noted.

Things were a lot worse at Zhan Hu when PG and Jaime decided to throw the immunity challenge to be able to vote off first James and then Aaron to even out the numbers at the merge.

As great strategy as this could turn out to be, it was also irritating.

Throwing challenges doesnt exactly always work on Survivor.

But throw that challenge those two annoying girls did. Much to my and James’ annoyance.

Even more grating was their giggling back at their island afterwards.

James just told them to vote him out when given the choice between him and Aaron.

Unfortunately the next person voted off Survivor was Aaron.

Jean Robert started the episode extolling his poker playing virtues.  The biggest no no in Survivor.  He might be a professional poker player, but obviously isn’t the best Survivor player since he’s pissing off more people than making alliances.

Courtney looked even more emaciated than she did in the previous episode, even though this episode takes place the next morning!
At Zhan Hu their rice went bad and the relationship between Sherea and Dave went crazy over some shells.  We’ve seen Crazy Dave doing his thing for 3 weeks already, but seeing Sherea lose it was a bit of a surprise.
The reward challenges required the tribes to carry a fiery ball with chopsticks of various lengths to set off fireworks.

James and Jean-Robert eventually won reward for their team – winning a fisherman and his family, spices, vegetables and the cooking lesson.

Fei Long kidnapped Dave, providing him with a holiday – according to Dave himself.

Dave asked Todd something about fair play and the next thing you know Dave gives Todd the next clue, a promise to kidnap him and a loose alliance.

Back at Fei Long’s camp, the tribe first thought they were on a holiday too, especially Sherea who lounged on their pillows and comforters like Queen Sheba herself.

The rest of the team though, missed Dave and his hard work.

Sherea’s laziness upset Erik a musician who I had not noticed before.

That Dave really dominated the Zhan Hu tribe – you hardly notice anyone else when he’s around.
The reward fisherman family arrived at Fei Long with birds in tow.  Jean-Robert actually started speaking to them in Mandarin.  Who knew – not even Jean-Robert himself, apparently.  Actually he said he spoke it 20 years before.

Instead of using this bit of talent to his best, he instead annoyed the rest of the tribe giving orders.

After what Todd described as his best meal ever it was time for the immunity challenge.

Each tribe member had to dress up in traditional Chinese war armour and throw stuff at each other and defend some vases behind them.

James was once again his awesome self and Aaron looked particularly hot in his armoured gear.

As awesome as James is, all this showing of strength cannot be good for him in the long run.

So Fei Long got their groove back and again won double challenges this week.

Back to tribal council goes Zhan Hu.

You would think Sherea would be up for eviction tonight since no one likes a lazy Survivor player. Actually I just don’t understand Sherea’s attitude at all.

Instead it was Dave who the team felt to be dispensable.

Even though Dave has been getting on my last nerve for the past three weeks, I was actually disappointed that laziness won the day.
