One of my favourite things to do (as I’ve mentioned before) is to look for bargains on Bidorbuy’s Crazy Wednesday Auctions.
I bought this beautiful ring with a large Amethyst stone set in sterling silver a few weeks ago.
I paid R1.00 plus R40.00 for postage and packaging

(This picture does not do the ring justice at all! It’s much prettier in person than in the photo – and that’s saying a lot.)
The packing was a ring box, placed in a white organza bag. Very beautifully presented.
So far I’ve received lots of compliments on my ring.
This was definitely one of my best bargains of the year.
Not that I won’t keep looking for more. I’ll be back at midday today searching for more bargains.

Tuesday is Crazy Wednesday Auction Day on Bidorbuy and I’ve been going there every week for at least the past year!
Today a meeting that was scheduled for 9.30am was postponed to 11.00 am.
At first I panicked! Knowing how long these meetings can go on for!
We were supposed to start at 11.00am, but people started drifting in at right up until 11.20!
So I really started to panic!
My auctions! I’m going to lose out!
11.55am arrived and knowing things were far from resolved in our meeting, I took out my cellphone and logged onto Bidorbuy.
At exactly 12.00pm I started bidding on auctions.
Then they started discussing a project I initiated! What the heck.
Was it payback time from the auction gods?
I continued bidding while contributing.
Eventually my colleague took out her cellphone. I knew she was propably on Facebook and would be messaging me!
By now I was sure the universe was conspiring against me.
Determined, I continued bidding.
Until the meeting was adjourned at 12.30pm!
Grrrrrrrrrrr! They should really not schedule meetings for Tuesday!

It’s raining, it’s Monday and I got into a work-related argument with my colleagues.
And then I got an e-mail in the middle of it all congratulating me for winning a R1000 in Bidorbuy’s Blogging off Competition!
Here’s the thing…I am a huge Bidorbuy auction junky. I go there right after checking Facebook and e-mail and before setting foot out of bed in the morning!
Anyway, a huge thank you to Bidorbuy for brightening my Blue Monday.

What can I say? I need a BMW 750i that costs R1.1 million.

I am after all the Minister of Higher Education, Dr Blade Nzimande.
What example would I be to tertiary graduates if I drove a car worth less than a middle-class house?
Give the kids a reason to further their education.
So what if I didn’t pay for this car myself. So what if the money could have built a few houses or fed a few families.
If other lesser Ministers can drive Mercs and BMWs, so can I.
After all, I’m Dr Blade Nzimande. Minister of Higher Education.

It’s my own fault I’m looking for an Mp3 player.
A while ago I received an Apple Ipod 2GB as a gift, but because I wasn’t in need of one at the time, put it on auction in Bidorbuy’s Electronic Category.
I sold it for R1000!
Mind you, I probably wouldn’t get that amount these days for a 2GB iPod – or so I keep telling myself.
What can I say, I’m addicted to online auctions!
Now I’m in the market for an MP3 player to use while getting in shape for the summer and guess where I’ll be heading to first, to compare prices?
A clue?
I’m not looking for anything extravagant or overly expensive because I will be hitting the road to train for a few 10km races later in the year and I don’t want to live in fear of losing an expensive MP3 player.
And chances are, I will!
So far I’ve seen a 2GB mini MP3 player for R149, including shipping. And the seller is verified – which means the chances are increased that it is a genuine sale.
But what is the point of just buying the first MP3 player that looks good? No self-respecting auction junky would do such a thing!
I will look around Bidorbuy’s Electronic Category, especially their R1.00 Crazy Auctions, and hope I find a player at an even better price.
If not, I know where to find one at a good price.
