7de Laan: April 2010 Spoilers!

Looks like we’ll be having at least three floozes in the Laan in April. San-Mari, who is still after Altus (despite he being in love with Paula), Gita – heavily pregnant though she might be, she’s romancing it with Herman and the original Flooze (is that her name?)

Episode 2189

Isabelle finds something out and refuses to accept it. Will Diederik and Kabelo be happy with Annelie’s ideas for their new Oppiekoffie uniforms?

Mandla and Alyce have to make a plan when their furniture arrives, but their flat is not finished. Herman breaks some news to Charmaine and Neville with regards to their builder.

Paula makes a plan when she hears that she has to attend Paul Venter’s book launch, but will it be successful? Isabelle finds out why Helena left so quickly. The girls are shocked when they see who has made herself comfortable in their flat.

A few crises make it impossible for Charmaine to go and fetch Errol and even more drama causes him to only be able to come home later. Paula suddenly starts getting strange phone calls from her ex boyfriends.

The Flooze and Gert make it clear how they feel about one another. Herman tries with great effort to stay away from Gita.

Cousin Gert fears for his life and he reveals why he had to sell Flossie. The Flooze sees his calves, but will she recognize him? Altus is suspicious of Paula’s ex boyfriends and he catches her out on a lie. Emma worries about a difficult situation and she later tells Felicity what she’s decided.

The Flooze hears that Gert is back in Johannesburg and she asks Oubaas and Maria about it. Paula wants to prove her innocence to Altus, but San-Mari makes sure that it doesn’t work. How will Gita and Herman be affected by the argument they have because of their feelings for each other?

The Flooze promises that she will make sure that Altus and Paula find their way back to each other but she wants something in return.

Herman and Gita are very uncomfortable around each other and Tim and Felicity pick up on it. Clara works late in the boutique and have to witness a gruesome act.

Will Gita and Herman manage to put an end to what’s going on between them? Clara panics when she hears about the story Mandla is working on and she later gets threatened with death.

While Neville and Charmaine are enjoying Min Shaw and Lance James, they get a call about Errols’ party.

Errol gets punished for his wild party. Flooze have a plan to get Altus and Paula back together. Felicity suspects that Herman is lying to het. Gita tries to convince Herman that their feelings are all in the mind, but how does Herman feel.

Flooze has revenge plans with Gert. Clara believes that someone is trying to kille her. An Englishman is looking for Paula and the Flooze doesn’t trust him. Herman and Gita try to fight their feelings, but will they succeed?

Felicity wants to tell Herman the good news but before she can do it, he breaks the news about him and Gita. Everyone feels different about Neville announcing that he wants to go ahead with the new paper.

Love, Life and Everything Else

This morning while drinking the last drop of coffee left in my home (got to get to the shops sometime today!), I had a think about the year so far.

It’s been one of my tougher years recently. I wondered how 2009 could have been so great and 2010 be totally opposite!

Then I had one of those rare moments of clarity that once in a while makes an appearance…

So far this year I’ve been utterly and completely out of my comfort zone.

And in actual fact this year has been nothing short of mind blowing so far, with more to come.

As I’ve written before, I was the subject of gossip amongst colleagues who were also sort of work buddies. Nothing like that had ever occured in my private or work life. I’m as boring as they come. Not too much to gossip about anyway. But it was hurtful in ways I could not even imagine.

However, I’m stronger for it. It’s good to be able to put a professional distance between me and my colleagues again and I watch what I say about other people now, because I would hate to cause anyone such pain…ever!

Career wise I’m on the brink of a career and life changing move – hopefully within our organisation. Or it will be somewhere else in the next year or so.

I’m petrified and excited at the same time; and I’m not sure how to hide the fear and rather articulate my excitement.

It all comes down to two things. The website I’m currently designing as well as my performance appraisal coming up in two weeks.

Linked to my job is of course the UNISA IT diploma I’m currently studying towards. OMW! Had I known how mind blowing it was going to be, I would have started this years ago. Anyway, in its current form, this diploma only started in 2010.

Studying part-time this time round is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I’m a total wreck most of the time.

Last but not least my love life is probably the most uncomfortable it has been in a long time, maybe ever! Usually my relationships develops to a pattern that I become comfortable with. Now I barely recognise myself. Usually I would walk away, but it is very hard to walk away from someone who looks at you and treats you like you’re the best thing since sliced bread. I’m not sure that I like feeling so deurmekaar – at a time when I need my mind to be clear.

It’s like the gods or whoever decided to flip a switch and turn my life upside down on 31 December 2009!

All this and there’s still another seven freaking months to go! What next!

Have a Break, Have a Kit Kat! Not anymore…

This afternoon I took a walk to the cafe around the corner from our office to get an avocado pear. I walked out with a KitKat as well!

It’s not an every day occurance that I walk to the shop and I’ve not had a Kit Kat in YEARS!

When I got back to my desk after lunch and opened the chocolate and my web browser at the same time, meaning to read about Barack Obama’s health care triumph.

I have to admit I didn’t think too much about the rainforests while enjoying my Kit Kat.   However, it’s not as if I need one more bandwagon to climb on.  Don’t I get a break!

Politics as Usual

How do we know it’s nearly election time again? Malema and Zille are once again calling each other names and threatening court action.

We’ve barely had time to settle from the last election and now we’re gearing up for another in 2011. I’m not sure if I’m ready this time.

Though the municipal elections are as important, it hardly has the same kind of emotional impact as the general election. No feeling of history and Nelson Mandela and all the rest.

However…I have been giving some thought about how I’m going to vote. It is actually a lot easier for me to say right now how i’m NOT going to vote.

I will simply not vote Democratic Alliance (as I’ve said many times before on this blog), nor will I vote for any alliance that has the DA as a partner.

It’s not even something I wish to debate, because it is pretty much cast in stone – I will not vote for a white led party. End of story.

Patricia de Lille has apparently long ago given up any pretense of leadership and has taken up the role of occassional watch dog – if you can call a Chihuahua a watchdog. And Cope – is…there’s no words to describe this party.

I seriously doubt any coalition with those three parties can make an impact beyond their own voter bases.

Who I will vote for is another question all together.

I’m an ANC supporter and while I strongly believe in the party’s ideology, Julius Malema and Jacob Zuma gives me little hope that the party is on the right track.

As the saying goes…”All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.”

Unless the decent people in the ANC start getting their voices heard above the noise that is Julius Malema, voters may just choose to not cast our votes rather than waste it on politics as usual.

Julius Malema is NOT the only one…

I absolutely hate writing about him, mainly because Julius Malema is an idiot of the highest order and writing about him just gives him more credibility than he actually deserves!

However, I wonder if I’m just turning into my mother and her generation…because I cannot understand this age bracket of people who feel entitled (of course I know not everyone is the same).

But…without a decent education or any sign of intelligence or drive to work hard, Malema has somehow managed to garner himself an expensive lifestyle, including million rand houses, top of the range cars and expensive parties. All of which he refutes.

No one would deny someone whether young or old the opportunity to enrich themselves. But other than winning the Lotto, one would expect they would fund their lifestyles using their own entrepreneurial skills or inherit their family’s riches. Not be riding on the back’s of other’s hard work.

Another example is something called the R260 Car Initiative where the website owner is trying to get 500 people to give her R260 to buy a car.  In exchange for advertising on her website apparently.

When hell freezes over, I say!

It’s not that I’m above helping others.  I work for an NGO for goodness sake!

And it’s not only these two people…I was asked to speak to a group of young school leavers about working in an IT environment a few weeks ago.  Funny enough most of them somehow thought they were owed a job.

I explained how I worked my way into my current position and how I studied (and am still studying) to improve my skills.

I got the impression they were neither interested in starting at the bottom nor in improving their education.

Knowing all the real opportunities in this country, it boggles my mind that  people still want something for nothing.

They’re not getting it from me!
