What a day!
Today wasn’t an ordinary work day for me. Some colleagues and I went on trip to a few museums around Cape Town on a fact finding mission.
First stop was the District 6 Museum in the city centre. Wow, what an amazing place…nothing that like I expected!
The place was filled with positive stories – no self pity or anything one might expect. Just a celebration of life in District 6.
Next we went to the Bo-Kaap Museum. Parking was hard to find in the narrow roads. It was a lot smaller than the District 6 museum and it’s theme was Cape Malay history and culture.
Last but not least we went to Groot Constantia, to see how the former governer of the Cape, Simon van der Stel lived. There was sooooo much to see, but unfortunately we had only a few hours.
We did make it to the Orientation house, Manor House and Cloete Cellar.
I would like to go again and spend some more time looking around at my own leisure.
A very good working day, indeed!

Never been to the District 6 or Bo-Kaap Museums…Groot Constantia…went there to drink one day. Does that count?
Does the D6 one detail the entire history or is it just selected stories? Place I do want to visit one day, when I’m back in Town.
