The Alternate-Day Diet

If you think you’ve seen, heard or tried every weightloss diet on the planet, fear not because here is one more.

It goes by the names Alternate-Day Diet or Intermittent Fasting or Longevity Diet. Devised by Dr James Johnson , author of Alternate-Day Diet who personally followed this eating plan.

This is how it works :

* You can lose weight by restricting your diet to 2093 kilojoules on your fasting day every other day for the first two weeks.
Dr Johnson suggests you try prepackaged shakes or meals to ensure the correct amount.

* After two weeks you can eat regular food on fasting days. Eating 35% of your normal amount of food will with weightloss. Between 50 or 60% will maintain current weight.

*There are no restrictions on alternate days, other than including fruit and vegetables in your diet. Although no binging either.

* Drink plenty of water and exercise regularly, especially on eating days.

* Weigh yourself only once a week.
