Starting the New Year…too late for Resolutions?
It doesn’t feel like the serious part of the New Year has started yet, but it will next week when I head off to work.
Though I’m NOT into making resolutions, I do have a few goals, plans, aspirations and ideals.
1. Study plans – I enrolled for a three year diploma in IT at UNISA and doing 5 courses in the first Semester and four in the second. I am so excited to be studying again. It will benefit my work as well as my hobby. My goal is to pass all nine study courses first time with at least 3 distinctions. To study at home part-time is hard, but I’ve done it before…in a financial field which I didn’t even like!
2. To take care of my health by booking health checkups early in the year. Other than six monthly dental checkups, I’ve not been good at visiting my other medical practitioners. And I have decent medical aid cover.
3. Be even more conscious of my diet, especially where nutrition is concerned.
Having a healthy eating plan, with planned meals is essential for someone who is normally active. However, I will be spending more time than usual behind the computer.
3. Ask for support when I need it, especially with a heavy course load for the next few years.
I can be very independent, which isn’t always a good thing.
4. Finance! My least favourite topic. However this year I want to end the year with enough knowledge to be my own financial advisor. I want to know about every aspect of my cheque account charges and change banks to get the best deal if necessary. I might be looking toward credit to get car finance. But getting a car loan later in the year scares me. Definitely get rid of credit cards. My big goal is to perhaps only have a car loan by December 2010 – if even that.
5. Be more quiet, talk less and really listen to other people and to myself. React less and be more patient.
6. I would REALLY like to take an overseas holiday later in the year – even it means visiting one of our neighbouring countries.
7. Have fun doing even the most serious tasks. Laugh even more than I did in 2009.
8. Leave behind old friendships and relationships that doesn’t/didn’t work and make space for new ones.
9. Blog, blog and blog some more. Mainly because I love doing it.
10. Be myself without any apologies.
