Double Standard re Healthy Living
This morning quite a few of my Facebook friends mentioned on their statuses that they overindulged over the holidays and had to go on diets and start exercising from today.
All good and well.
But can you imagine me (and other individual health conscious people) updating my status with “indulged, but not overly. Exercised moderately. Feeling fit and healthy and still had a great time.”
I guess there wont me many who will “like” that status update.
Never mind that good nutrition can still be maintained over the holidays.
As part of my plans for the New Year, I include a health plan – eating and fitness wise.
I take vitamin supplements as insurance that my body get what it needs for energy to work out.
Health care is important and if we didn’t make a concerted effort, it would be far too easy to eat junk food indiscriminately.
Yesterday my sister-in-law told me she lost weight by drinking the Herbalife shake.
But couldn’t afford to buy more once it was up. I suggested, as I always do, that eating smaller, healthier meals would have the same effect.
By now I know that one is allowed – almost encouraged – to talk about your weightloss efforts if you’re overweight. But the reverse is true if you’re a healthy weight.
