While I’m more than happy to turn my tv off when there’s nothing to watch, I still have a few wishes for 2010.

1. Let us choose our own bouquets Dstv! If you do, I just might fork out the money and turn my decoder back on. Constant repeats or not.

2. That E-tv and Sabc 1 in particular, stop taking sponsors money and showing the same skop, skiet and donner movies every weekend night during prime time. Oh and I beg them to stop those darn festivals of Steven Seagal, Jean-Claude van Damme and James Bond movies. They are just repackaging the same junk and feeding it to viewers who have nothing else to watch.

3. My wish is that 7de Laan writers please put Altus and Paula together and keep them that way. This will they/won’t they will not work indefinitely. And please send Dawid Greeff on a one way ticket to Australia. If he can take Vanessa with him, even better!

4. As for Generations writers…let Karabo be freaking happy for a long period and give that woman a child. How can she all of a sudden still be in love with Tau! For goodness sake, the man has been dead for ages.

5. Isidingo writers what the heck happened to what was formerly the best soapie in the country. My wish is that they tell proper stories and not put characters like Farrow and Lesedi front and centre. Actually the only people I can stand to watch is Len, Slu and Bra George and Stella. And that’s for comic relief the few times I tune in these days.

6. I wish that Sabc 3 would can the idea of putting popular series on three nights in a row. They utterly spoilt Heroes for me.

7. And Sabc 2 idiots who put repeats of game shows and a talk show on a Saturday night during prime time and then put an original series with new episodes like In Plain Sight and Cold Case on at 10.30pm. Not to mention Medium and NCIS on at 10 pm!
My wish is those idiots trade in their Dstv decoders and watch the drivel they impart upon the general viewing public.

8. Since this is a wish list unlikely to happen…please let E-tv get rid of their sleezy shows like Cheaters and WWW crap wrestling or at least put it on late at night.

9. Sabc to get a sports channel to show cricket and soccer in particular. As much as I like cricket, and as much as I’m looking forward to the Soccer World Cup, there is a time and place for sport.

10. No more old Leon Schuster movies during prime time viewing! GRRRRR Put it on at 2am if you must, Sabc and e-tv.

I thank the tv gods for banishing tv presenters from my tv screen. So I hope those tv gods will at least one or two of my wishes above come true.
