My Medical Aid Premiums Increasing Again!
We’ve been informed by our Medical Aid, Oxygen, that premiums will be increasing next year AGAIN.
Oh, and benefits are decreasing. We will have to co-pay certain medical expenses, like wisdom teeth removal in a hospital, but not out of our Personal Savings Accounts.
Oxygen are also in talks with another (secret for now) medical aid to amalgamate with them.
Looks like it’s not Discovery Health.
So far it’s all bad news.
My premium is going from R1100 to R1300 per month!
Or as they said in correspondence, I can go on a cheaper option and have them dictate my medical options.
It’s not as if other Medical Aid will give a better rate for similar benefits.
They will offer unnecessary non-medical extras that I’m not interested in, but most of the premiums are exactly the same.
What choice do I have but to pay up?
Going to state facilities is out of the question and who knows what the National Health Insurance has in store for us.
It would be so much easier if Medical Aid providers would cut the frills and offer us options that actually cover medical costs.
They can keep their magazines, calendars and other crap and use our money for its intended purpose.
