SA’s Got Talent: First Semi-final
After 6 weeks of auditions tonight everything went into fast forward mode.
First was beat boxer (and one of the favourites in my opinion) George Avakian.
He was pretty much as amazing and HOT as he was in the auditions.
The judges, including Randall had good things to say about George.
I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t reach Thursday’s final.
Next was judges favourite 40 year old singer Faith from Cape Town.
She sang Big Spender and seemed to have the crowd enjoying the song. Although I don’t understand why she didn’t choose a song that showed off her voice more.
The judges were restrained in their praise though. Randall used the ‘you don’t need to win this show to be successful’ line.
Next was Jody Kleinhans, Michael Jackson lookalike.
Its hard to describe what he was up to. A real waste of a place in the semis.
He was much funnier after the act, mind you.
The next act were little dancers Natasha and Cameron, the first of the kiddie contingent.
They were absolutely cute, confident and talented and received the loudest cheer from the audience up to that point.
Next were dancing group from Rustenburg, Tshwaraganang.
The little girl singing was sweet, but I didn’t really get this group. I enjoyed the Zulu dancers of KZN a lot more.
Another Capetonian guitarist Louwtjie Rothman was next.
He really is very talented. Awesome, actually.
Another crowd pleaser.
Definitely for me the best act of the night – and the one I’m voting for.
The judges were impressed, I think. Well, they and the presenters became incoherent when Shado mentioned the word bedroom.
Clown-faced dancers called Roses were the final act and also got the crowd going.
They were even better than during the auditions.
Although Ian disagreed.
I would be happy to see Roses, George and Louwtjie into the final.
We’ll have to see in an hour when voting closes at 9.30pm.
Although the promise that Loyiso Bala will be performing, doesn’t exactly thrill me.
