The Sporting Weekend That Was
Other than the disappointing Proteas, it was a great sporting weekend for this sports lover.
1. WP pretty much annihilated Griquas at Newlands on Saturday afternoon. Usually Province doesn’t exactly cover themselves in glory when it rains. Even though we normally get heavy winter rain in Cape Town.
A home semi-final looks very likely, seeing this season’s whipping boys, Boland, are WP’s opponents next week.
2. Liverpool won 6-1 Saturday as well. It was at Anfield and it was against Hull, but last season they dropped unnecessary points against lower ranked teams.
It didn’t hurt that Fernando Torres scored a hat trick or that Ryan Babel and Steven Gerrard scored.
3. Irvin Khosa was defeated in his bid to become SAFA president.
And then the SA cricket team put a damper on things on Sunday!
