CEO of Cricket SA, Gerald Majola has decided to act like he’s in charge at CSA.
Whoever’s in charge it sure isn’t Mr Majola.
Only he and his ego thinks he really has a say whether the captain or coach gets fired.
All it takes is a bit of moaning from senior players in the team and we’re back to the same old same old formulaic game plans.
So he takes his giant ego and gets into ridiculously unnecessary squabbles to throw his weight around.
Like his fight with the Gauteng Cricket Board.
The major reason that SA are out of the the ICC World Championship is because of that previously mentioned ego of Majola, as much as it has to do with game plans and an inability to be flexible with that plan.
Just because the GCB questioned his handling of the Indian Pro T20 cricket series, he moved all SA’s matches in the current series from the Wanderers.
(SA does much better playing at the Wanderers than at Centurion.)
The coach and captain certainly should not be fired after test victories against England and Australia in the last year.
If anyone should go, it should be that egomaniac Gerald Majola.

Looks like the most interesting storyline in the Laan during October will be Clara getting a new best, best Friend!
Could it be Marko? Those two are best suited. Both are players of the highest order.
For the rest of the storylines…
Neville and Charmaine gets married again.
The most mismatched couple Xander and Vanessa have a fight and as we’ve come to expect from her, Vanessa throws a tantrum and moves out.
Xander spends half of October trying to get her to move back. Who knows why.
Janine gets deeper into trouble and drags Errol down with her. She eventually, after annoying us for a few more weeks, gets caught stealing.
The Mandla and Alice wedding saga continues. At least firm wedding plans are made. But who cares. Alice is a spoilt brat and Mandla a stubborn fool.
Hillside Times gets a new journalist to replace Paula. She could be trouble i.e. short term.
Gita tells Emma she paid Dawid Greeff to pursue her. Arghh…that means Dawid and his puppy-dog-i’m-acting-like-someone-so-in-love-look will still be in the Laan.
But will Herman leave the Laan?
Still no Paula, but there’s a glimmer of hope right at the end of the month. Or maybe its wishful thinking.

This morning I opened the blinds and windows to a beautiful sight.
Blue skies and the South Easter.
After a weekend of soaking rain, it was a relief!
This whole week more strong South Easterly winds are expected in Cape Town.
I can’t promise I won’t start complaining once memories of our wet winter starts fading

Other than the disappointing Proteas, it was a great sporting weekend for this sports lover.
1. WP pretty much annihilated Griquas at Newlands on Saturday afternoon. Usually Province doesn’t exactly cover themselves in glory when it rains. Even though we normally get heavy winter rain in Cape Town.
A home semi-final looks very likely, seeing this season’s whipping boys, Boland, are WP’s opponents next week.
2. Liverpool won 6-1 Saturday as well. It was at Anfield and it was against Hull, but last season they dropped unnecessary points against lower ranked teams.
It didn’t hurt that Fernando Torres scored a hat trick or that Ryan Babel and Steven Gerrard scored.
3. Irvin Khosa was defeated in his bid to become SAFA president.
And then the SA cricket team put a damper on things on Sunday!

Wow, what a let down from the SA cricket team yesterday.
It all started with lacklustre bowling and fielding.
I couldn’t believe how uninspired our Proteas looked in the field.
Wayne Parnell was the only one who looked even half interested.
So there we were, at the start of the SA innings needing 323 to win.
Graeme Smith again led from the front, but other than AB De Villiers, none of the top order looked like they were going to stick around.
In the end though it was our below par bowling that lost SA that match.
The match was soured even more by Andrew Strauss’ gamesmanship for not allowing Graeme Smith a runner.
He said afterwards that he did not believe Smith was really cramping, but was tired instead.
So he thinks the SA captain is a cheat?
Whatever…
That isn’t the reason the Proteas are out of the ICC World Championship.
Should make for an interesting England team visit to South Africa at the end of the year though.
