Where Do YOU Draw the Line at the Office?

I seldom lose my temper anywhere, much less at my place of work.

But last week I did.

It was all about a project we were working on where I felt like I wasn’t being heard.

I walked into another colleagues office and fumed, “I can’t stand, that woman.”

“She is so…”

My colleague calmly told me to put my concerns in writing and communicate it clearly to the relevant parties.

Which I did.

Afterwards I felt angry at myself for not following my own advice. To not mix personal feelings with work politics.

Many times I’ve used that overused cliche, “It’s not personal, it’s just work.”

I crossed my own line.

And anyway, my anger was likely directed at my own feelings of helplessness.

So after some quiet comtemplation over the weekend, I realised that it was time to cross back over the line.

Personal hurts get dealt with at home. Work problems gets sorted out at the source.

And never the two shall meet. Hopefully.

It works…most of the time. Unfortunately emotions are part of being human and sometimes it just spills over.
