O Magazine: Gratitude and High Priced Boots
I bought the August 2009 issue of the O Magazine today, because I spotted a cute little gratitude journal.
The August theme is about letting go, something I had to do with a friendship this week.
As I paged through the magazine, I came across three pages filled with boots. A shoe lovers fantasy.
Most of them costing over R2000 a pair, some going as high as R8900!
Who pays that much for shoes?
There was also jewellery by Heidi Klum costing R1200 for a simple pendant on a leather thong and on another page necklaces that had charms reminiscent of ones found in lucky packets – for the princely sum of R320.
No one is of course forcing me to buy any of this. And there’s no way I would.
I do wonder though if showcasing such expensive luxury items is in direct contradiction to Oprah’s own show where she discourages all and sundry from spending money on things they dont need.
I have yet to meet someone who need boots worth a bond repayment.
The magazine after all carries Oprah’s name and her picture on the cover every month.
