July is Moral Regeneration Month – Dont Laugh!
Apparently some people in the ANC government wants to keep reminding the public of President Jacob Zuma’s multitude of sins.
First Julius Malema refuses to apologise for making ludicrous statements about the woman who believed she was raped by Jacob Zuma.
Thereby allowing the discussion and media interest to drag on.
Then some other idiot declares July Moral Regeneration month.
Instead they should have just called it ‘Do as I say, but don’t do as I do’ month.
Because Jacob Zuma hasnt exactly covered himself in glory on the morality front.
Perhaps former President Thabo Mbeki intended to keep his former deputy busy by having him head the Moral Regeneration project in 2004 or did he appoint him with just a touch of irony, to remind Zuma of his financial misdeeds?
Anyway, morality and politics have so little to do with each other, other than in perception.
Despite his obvious immoral (regardless of the criminal act he was accused of) behaviour with women who were not one of his wives as well financial crimes, Jacob Zuma was still elected ANC and South African president.
What does that teach us about making moral choices?
So pardon me for not celebrating Moral Regeneration month.
Jacob Zuma may turn out to be the best president this country has ever known, but he will never have the right to preach morality.
