Vodacom’s Elton and Jan becomes famous
The Elton an Jan Vodacom Player 23 advertisement is currently one of the most entertaining on tv.
Everything – from the music to the actors are so typically South African.
Both actors come from Cape Town. Malcolm Ferreira (Jan) is a stand up comedian who also did Going Nowhere Slowly (the travel programme on Sabc 3).
Merlin Balie (Elton) played creepy Werner on 7de Laan as well as doing a whole lot of other current adverts.
Both actors admit to getting noticed especially by rugby supporters.
Jan was even offered a date with a supporter’s sister if he went home with him for a braai.
Could Elton and Jan become the advert world’s Boet and Swaer, the ‘can of the best’ guys?
Remember how famous they got?
They were even made into a 30 minute sitcom, which wasnt succesful at all.
Hopefully Elton and Jan just continue to make seriously funny ads.
