ICC World T20: South Africa Defeats England
One of the greatest pleasures in cricket is seeing England get beaten. Even better when South Africa does it.
Even better when Kevin Pietersen is playing for England.
I don’t know what it is about the English – their unfounded arrogance, the crowd, commentators, newspapers – actually it has to be the whole lot combined.
When England is ahead they’re the best team in the world, when they’re losing, the commentators start talking about the birds or some strange hat someone is wearing.
South Africa’s bowlers were brilliant on Thursday. A real team effort, with England struggling to find runs.
Kevin Pietersen for a while looked like he meant business, then lost his wicket to a good catch. Somehow the Proteas fielders always manage to take Pietersen’s wicket with a brilliant catch!
After Pietersen it was pretty much a parade fo Englishmen walking to the wicket and bac. Mercifully they were taken out of their misery on 111.
The South African’s played with patience and took their time – 18.2 overs to be exact – to finish off the English.
Jacques Kallis was in his element joined by top scoring with 57 runs.
In the end it was an easy, unspectacularly victory.
But who cares, England lost.
