Mr Zuma Please Make that Idiot Give the Merc Back
In what universe would it be acceptable for the Minister of Transport, Sbu Ndebele, to take a gift of a brand new Mercedes Benz ( or even a dirt old one for that matter) from contractors in his home province KwaZulu Natal?
President Jacob Zuma better do something immediately to nip this kind of practice in the bud.
Mr Zuma claims to be the president of poor people – he should prove it by discouraging government from accepting gifts – big or small.
Government employees receive a salary, paid for by us, the tax-payer. There is no need for them to receive additional rewards for work they’ve already received remuneration for.
Which makes one wonder why the consortium of businessmen from KZN found it at all necessary to donate this lavish gift to Mr Ndebele in the first place.
Instead of accepting gifts, government officials should be encouraging those who benefit from government tenders to give back to society. And by society we don’t mean politicians.
They could be building houses, clinics, schools etc. as an alternative to purchasing vehicles worth R1.1 million for people who don’t need it.
No amount of spin doctoring is going to make this okay.
President Zuma should make that idiot give the Mercedes Benz back, fire him or both.
It is deplorable that Mr Ndebele sees nothing wrong with receiving such an extravagant gift when doctors are being paid R7000 a month!
