Oh My, Mrs Zille Already Looking to Pass the Buck

Written on May 5, 2009 – 7:31 pm | by Glass Pearl |

It hasn’t taken long for Mrs Helen Zille to start spreading the blame around and she’s not yet even in the job of Western Cape premier.

According to IOL.co.za she is blaming the ANC for trying to make the province ungovernable.

After she’s sworn in tomorrow, Mrs Zille will probably call in the army as her first point of business - as she threatened to do for taxi driver strikes - to sort out those bad people who chose not to vote for her.

The shoe is on the other foot now though.

It was a lot easier to criticise everything the sitting government did at every given opportunity and now she better expect the same thing.

We in the Western Cape can likely expect a whole lot of whining for the next five years, especially those of us who don’t bow at the Zille throne.

As far as I know, Khayelitsha is part of Cape Town and the Western Cape as much as Rondebosch, Claremont and Mitchells Plain.

In the same way as people who live in townships in other parts of the country (governed by the ANC, mind you) have a right to protest their dire circumstances, so have the residents of Cape Town.

Should Mrs Zille be exempted because she is so special?  Because we will all start loving her now?

Should we forget that not even a week ago she was still mayor of the very Cape Town where Khayelitsha is situated in?

It’s going to be interesting to see what happens to people who don’t agree with the great Mrs Helen Zille.

Maybe she expected us all to pull on blue DA t-shirts and cheer her every move.

Welcome to the real world!

actually in some ways, Zille and the DA did not do so well in this election – the DA is the official opposition in 2 provinces only (Mpumalanga and Gauteng), whereas COPE is the ‘official’ opposition in 5.

Mark, you are right – COPE has grown very fast for a new party.

Here’s hoping they’ll forget their internal politics and not go into coalitions with the DA.

With any luck they’ll be the official opposition in municipalities after 2011 and inparliament in 2014.

Your ill-educated attacks would be laughable if they weren’t so sad, Abigail. What is also sad – and laughable – is the fact that I spent a few minutes reading this rubbish and dignifying it with a response. You won’t find me here again.

It is idiot’s like you that are bringing this country down. It does not take a genius (which you are you most certainly are not) to see the pattern of what is going on in the W Cape. The last time this happened the ANC publicly stated they would make the Cape ungovernable. Right after the elections what happens – portests in ANC strong areas. Anyone who thinks this is NOT deliberate on the part of the ANC is either benefiting illicitly in some way by supporting them or as thick as two short planks.

The ANC does not have the where-with-all to reap the true benefit and potential from this country for all its citizens. It has been screwing up from day 1 and blaming everyone else for it. Now it has been hijacked by the labour and communist movements – watch what happens. Everyone is focused on Zuma as if he is the one going to run this country when in truth it is Gwede Mantashe that is pulling the strings. The ANC is not the liberation organisation it was 30 years ago – it is something else and it needs to be stopped.

Abigale – come back in 5 years time and re-read what you wrote – then we will talk again….

    Ben/Lucky
What is it with DA supporters trying to inflate their numbers. We know the DA has the support of 17% or so of the population of South Africa, whether you change your posting name and reply once, twice or a million times.

By the way, I’m not interested in reading what you have to say. You lost me at idiot.

Everything that has happened since you posted your first comment on Ms Zille justifies the belief that the ANC, totally unable to deal with defeat in just one province, will do everything in their power to bring the DA down.
Chris Nissen (spokesman for the ANC in the Western Cape) said it was his party’s intention to make life difficult for the DA
Julius Malema, in an interview at the President’s inauguration, said it was his job to make Helen Zille angry. If she smiled he would know that he was not doing his job and he reiterated that the ANCYL is a militant organisation.
Gwede Mantashe says that the official opposition is Public Enemy No 1 and the remarks by Floyd Shivangu and the spokesman for the MKVA do not even merit a reply. Ms Zille has chosen not to take legal action but she is well within her rights to do so as these remarks went way beyond acceptable levels and are most certainly defamatory.
I am sorry you are so full of hatred. It must be very uncomfortable to live in such a state and you are probably having severe gastric problems. I am experiencing them simply from the five minutes I spent reading your vitriol.

    Hope,
Firstly —where have you been the last 15 years or so?
The DA has been critical of EVERYTHING the ANC has done for the last 15 years. Mrs Helen Zille took over from Tony Leon without skipping a beat.
What comes around goes around, just because the Great Mrs Helen Zille is premier of the Western Cape does not mean everything she touches turns to gold.

Secondly—I speak for myself and not the ANC.
I am not a member of the ANC, although I have voted ANC in some elections. In this last election my vote was split. I have nothing to do with what anyone in the ANC says or does.

I will write about Mrs Zille with the same contempt that she treated black people and women in her cabinet.

Whether you read my blog or not, I will continue to write the truth about Mrs Helen Zille.

The days where black people were jailed for voicing their opinion, much less speak the name of the ANC is long gone.

Abigail why don’t you just come out and admit that you can’t stand the DA? You are really clueless aren’t you? In the past 15 years the ANC has not made major miracles happen either. If you listen carefully and follow the news you will see that even with the new government in place they cannot even control the ANCYL or MK or even the unions. Those guys are all running amok and making even bigger problems in our country by creating more divisions and splits between the people of our country.

Now I am not someone who can see into the future or anything like that, but all the infighting is going to cause even more splits between the ANC and COPE. Don’t be surprised if the official opposition becomes the next ruling party in five years from now.

If that does happen don’t worry and think that you will be oppressed because contrary to what you may think, the DA is committed to building an open opportunity society for all. I long for that day when everyone in this country will be equal and be accountable for their actions. Everyone will be given an opportunity to grow and live freely in our country.

I am sorry that you feel so angry, and I sympathise with that because really when you think of it SA has come far in some areas but for the majority of the people in our country life still looks as it did back in 1994. It is in such times when everyone feels insecure that such arguments break out. No I don’t think you are a bad person just a bit misinformed. Go into the net and read up about Helen Zille, her entire biography on Wikipedia. It’s good reading and maybe you will change your opinion. If you don’t that’s fine too. But don’t join the other misinformed masses and shun her further.

Janine, I’ve said it many times – I can’t’ stand the DA nor their leader Mrs Helen Zille. Happy???

If you don’t like what I say, don’t read it. Move on to DA supporting blogs and articles. I’m sure there are one or two.

I have my opinion – informed by my experiences and if you dont’ like it – tough!

I might not like yours either.
