I’m Sick to Death of Susan Boyle
Two weeks ago I received the video link on Youtube to Susan Boyle’s appearance on Britain’s Got Talent.
Like many other people I was amazed when she started singing.
I had never heard of her or the video and had no idea at what was to follow, but Susan’s singing gave me goosebumps and even a tear or two.
Since that first weekend, the Susan Boyle story has gone viral in a big, big way.
She’s been everywhere – none of it her fault – mind you.
The media has gotten themselves a story and they’re going all the way with it – until something new comes up.
Turns out Ms Boyle has never been kissed, so an Indian company offered her a US$1million to lose her virginity on video.
I’m not sure if only we, the readers of Google News are the only ones aware of the offer, or if Susan was informed of the pot of gold awaiting her if she was willing.
The media then took to analysing every aspect of the poor woman’s life.
When she hit the US news and talk shows – as down to earth as she seems to be – a make-over was surely on the horizon.
And so it was.
Ms Boyle’s eyebrows were tamed, hair cut, coloured and styled and she was put into new garb.
With her next appearance on Britain’s Got Talent not until after mid May, what on earth will the press do next to keep the Susan Boyle love going?
Will the public’s love affair with the talent show contestant last until then?
Or will you – like me – get sick to death of hearing and seeing Ms Boyle on news sites all over the internet?
