Happy Earth Day!
How appropriate that Earth Day is being celebrated on the same day as South Africa’s national elections.
As individuals we think we alone can’t make a difference, but any change we want has to start with us. Just as with our one vote for who we prefer should run this country, so we as individuals can make a difference taking care of our environment.
Oddly enough, none of the parties who want our votes have campaigned strongly about their plans for the environment. Doubtlessly it’s somewhere in their manifestos, just in case someone should ask.
Regardless of what the government does, we as individuals have as much responsibility to whatever we can. It doesn’t have to be grand gestures.
By making small changes like being aware of unnecessary water and energy wastage e.g. unplugging cellphone chargers or appliancces when they’re not in use, all makes a difference.
