Pregnant Egoli Actress Fired
Does anyone still care about what happens in Egoli, the soapie that was once the most popular in the country?
For one, the CCMA still cares because actress Michelle Botes layed a complaint against the soapie for dismissal due to her being pregnant.
Michelle, who plays the most boring character in the history of boring characters, Audrey Roelofse, married last year and found out she was pregnant in November according to Rapport.
The producers agreed to write the pregnancy into the story, but then 2 weeks later fired the actress.
Michelle was hired through winning a talent contest in Cape Town and has been on Egoli since 2001.
Egoli turns 17 years old tomorrow, although it is rumoured to be the final year on screen.
From Monday it loses it’s timeslot to Binnelanders at 6.00pm and gets moved to 6.30pm to fight for viewership with other popular soapies 7de laan, Isidingo and Rhythm City.
The original writer, Franz Marx, has taken over the writing again, so maybe it will improve, but I won’t hold my breathe.

I have watched Egoli since it started & they have almost all become Family. I am devastated that it is ending. Last night was like we ha d had a funeral in our own home with the death of Chris. I suppose there is no where esle for it to go now with him gone !!!! How sad it has to end —- Sheila
