Supersport Fires Joost van der Westhuizen
The penny is really starting to drop for Joost van der Westhuizen.
Cape Talk Eyewitness news is reporting that Joost will no longer be working for Supersport!
Last night Supersport met with Joost to discuss the ongoing allegations of drug use and oral sex with a woman called Marilize van Emmenis captured on video.
After the meeting Supersport management put out a press release saying that they would no longer be using Joost for rugby commentary on their channel.
Joost was not a permanent employee of Supersport.
They said that although they believe Joost to be innocent unless proven guilty, the allegations were damaging to him as well as the image of the channel.
A load of nonsense if ever there was one!
No one knows or cares what those commentators get up to when they leave the studio.

It amazes me how holier-than-thou men become when one of their own is exposed as a philanderer. Shame on Supersport for firing Joost. He made a mistake – move on and forget about it – or are they hoping for another “Hansie” episode so that we can lament the passing of a South African great? Sex outside of marriage is commonplace so why the hullabaloo? Let the Supersport big shots take a lie detector test to prove they have never strayed and then they can pass judgement on Joost.

Hi Pokalos,
I agree 100%. Being a tv commentator is not exactly a job that requires high moral standards.
Joost’s wife seems okay with things, why must he now answer to Supersport? Makes no sense at all.

The media is disgusting and should leave Joost and his family alone. If he did do that then I am sure Amor will act on it, and if she is going to stay with him then so be it. It is their lives and I think supersport is wrong for firing him. If they had to look into everyone lives who work for them will they find that everyone is an angel and lives their lives perfectly, lets all investigate all the supersport employees and if we find perhaps someone drinks too much etc, lets then fire them all!!!!

Agreed, Bernie.
The story was a newsworthy, initially.
Now it’s turned into a witch hunt and worse, the media seem to want to destroy the van der Westhuizen family. There’s children involved here for goodness sake!
I don’t get that at all.

Dear Sir/Madam
In a country that is 70 percent christian, Joost is having a very difficult time. However there is a difference between open minded Christians and extremely narrow minded Christians, who always have an attitude of:” Holier than thou”.Joost should not be fired.WHY? because Amor used him for her fame and fortune, and doesn’t really care about him.I am sure she is highly manipulative, and he thought she loves him,but she doesn’t. He did feel on a subconscious level that his wife does not really love him, and looked for love elsewhere. Also,I know of men that really have medical problems with their testosterone levels . I know of a case where a guy had these levels fixed and it was a miracle. Afterward he would not hunt for woman anymore, his grades increased,he became a successful person.People are always pointing at men for doing these things, but can some of them really help it?
I think it is a utter disgrace that the girl in the video, and especially the coward who made the video get away with this.
Even if Joost did cheat, like many people do/have, he does not deserve this!!
They could have handled this privately. I think Joost should sue the greedy girl and her even greedier ,cowherd boyfriend severely for exploiting him tremendously with this video.
So what if he took crack this once?He was always, always clean on the drug testing when he played sport, was he not?
If it was not for the greedy girl and the even greedier, and selfish maker of the video, then Super Sport would also not have been humiliated,in the first place. This caused so much pain to EVERYONE involved and I think Joost should sue the living hell out of them.
If they have an open relationship -Its nobodies business! If he cheated I do not agree with that , however, so many people have cheated in their life .Its not like he is an exeption. He is only human. I am sure Joost would not have done it if he had a really happy marriage.
You should really give Joost credit for always having been clean on drug checks. He took the drug this once only .This is a huge reason why he should be given a chance, and his marital problems are another reason.
I am sure that after this traumatic experience for him, he will be a changed man forever. He will never cheat again, and be extremely careful and anxious who he trusts. The drug story is really not a worry at all, because he was never into drugs. It was really just this once.
I really think give the guy a chance. He is unlucky because we are sitting in a country with a bunch of holier than thou Christians who take the bible literally, when it cant even be proven who wrote the bible,or if everything little thing in the bible is to be taken at face value.
Its really People that really don’t think for themselves, and can only quote the bible and point fingers. However think for themselves they cannot!!
Its these people that should get a wake-up call and start thinking for themselves. Instead of referring to an outdated religious book they should just look at all the surrounding circumstances around Joost, and THINK FOR THEMSELVES to make a fair judgement.

hi all
for what it’s worth I really don’t think joost is guilty I mean do you have to be without morals just because your famous, or married to someone famous.
Fight them Joost and Amore, we’re all praying for you!!!

The issue of sex outside marriage is the lesser of the two evils that Joost has allegedly committed. I think his alleged drug taking is far worse especially as he is a sporting icon and hero to many a young rugby player.

Peter,
Joost wasn’t advocating anything. He was doing rugby commentary.
No one looks up to rugby commentators for anything. No one expects them to be pillars of the community.
Actually I know of a few commentators who need to be fired for talking nonsense.

If they want immorality, just look at the president of SA.

People should leave sports people and politicians sex lives alone.
Personally I don’t give two hoots who does what in their bedrooms…if their wives are prepared to put up with their infidelity, who am I to be concerned.

I think it’s absolutely right that he’s been fired and it’s not because I’m “holier than thou”. Joost (and celebrities like him) make a huge amount of money from posing as role models for our children. Then that is exactly what they should be. If they can’t take the pressure, they should get a normal job like the rest of us.
A great example of a liar and a cheat!

Sterkte!!!

people, a sport commenter and rugby player is by no means a role model!!
How would he be a role model? So he kicks a ball around? and kids look up to him for that ?Please.
Parents are and should be the greatest role models to children and are not taking responsibility for viewing porn, which the media has placed on the net for the world to view.
If parents want blame damages blame yourselves and blame the media.Had it not been there for everyone to watch ,put there by the media ,your kids would never have seen it.
Joost was a good person and very normal and sincere . Whatever he does in his bedroom who the hell cares about that.
How did he inflict anything on anybody with sex and even with the occasional drugs?
So many people like him have tried drugs but never been addicts. So if you want to be fair you have to expose them as well.
Get this non sense with role model out of your head.No logical person in my mind will call a rugby player and sport commenter a role model.
Ask all the children who their role model are,and do some research.Parents are the biggest examples to their children.Stop blaming Joost and take some responsibility for your children.Block the porn sites on the internet.
