Crap Sporting Weekend
I’m having the worst sporting weekend. Fortunately I’ve had other things to keep me occupied, so did not spend too much time watching the crap happen!
Firstly and also the worst so far is the cricket – South Africa vs Australia.
The less said the better. Except for the AB De Villiers century, there’s nothing much to write home about. Mind you, the Proteas have come back from this very situation in Australia during the summer, but it was still not easy to read a scorecard of 220 all out!
It could only get better from there right? Wrong!
My favourite English Football team, Liverpool went from a succession of draws recently to a 2-0 defeat to Middlesborough. Argggh – can Real Madrid please offer Rafa Benitez a trillion Euro salary so he can move on to ruining some other club?
To make matters worse, the freaking Stormers are up to their usual flattering only to deceive tricks. They lost 14-8 to the Blues. Where are the tries, Rassie Erasmus????
After a cricket title winning effort in the Pro20 series, the Cape Cobras are back at Newlands playing in the Supersport Series. They started well, bowling out the Eagles for 256, with Rory Kleinveldt taking 7/43, but then the Cobras replied with 285! Now though the Eagles are 291 ahead and still have 4 wickets left. With the Cobras hot/cold batting lineup, it’s anybody’s guess what they’re going to get up to when chasing for a victory.
Mercifully even bad sporting weekends have to come to an end. Maybe the Proteas can pull something of the hat to improve a dismal sporting weekend for this sports fan.
