J&B Met Day
31 January 2009 is the J&B Met. Cape Town’s biggest horse race.
Unlike people in Melbourne Australia, we don’t get a whole holiday for our glamours occassion.
J&B Met day nontheless brings in large doses of exitement to Kenilworth – huge numbers of catering and tv crew trucks and helicopters. Celebrities and wannabe celebs are of course also part of the mix on the day.
Since early last week, signs already went up signalling parking areas and road closures on the day. We sort of get the feeling how it must be to live close to the Newlands stadia on match day (rugby, cricket, soccer).
Most of us enjoy the excitement and buzz that is the J&B Met, although we do get the occassion complaints in the local community newspaper from residents, but mostly we know we in Kenilworth have it easy compared to our Newlands neighbours.
This occassion is about the horses too, less we forget.
